Martin Lewis baffled as Phillip Schofield accuses him of swearing live on This Morning

Martin Lewis was baffled on Thursday morning after Phillip Schofield accused him of swearing during an appearance on This Morning.

The Money Saving Expert appeared on the ITV show via video link to answer viewers' financial questions, but it seems that Phillip, 58, misheard him at some point.

In response to one viewer called Dawn asking if she had been scammed, Martin said: "Legally, have you been scammed? Probably not? Morally? Certainly, in my view.

"The ITV lawyers might not like me saying that but I think these sites are outrageous

"That’s why I call them shysters, quite quasilegal - that’s not a swearword by the way so we’re fine," he added.

Phillip quickly replied: "The one before though was," whilst laughing.

Martin then asked: "What was that?" to which Phillip said: "Don’t worry, don’t worry, roll it back."

However, it seems Martin couldn't let it go and later took to Twitter and posted: "Apparently according to Philip I swore on @thismorning just now. Yet I have no idea what I said."

Martin's followers were quick to reply and point out what it was that Phillip was actually referring to.

"s**tes" instead of sites haha," one person wrote.

Other wondered if Phillip misunderstood the word shysters.

One wrrote: "It's a slang word for someone who acts in a disreputable manner.

"However, it's historical use could suggest an anti semitic view, which could be why Philip was concerned about its use?"

Martin tweeted about Phillip's comment after appearing on the ITV show (@MartinSLewis/Twitter)

Martin then replied: "No that wasn't the point. As I noted shyster isn't a swear word. Philip suggested i had sworn earlier. The common view is I may have said web sh***s accidentally instead of sites."

One supportive follower responded: "Yes just a slip of the tongue during your impassioned advice. All fine and everyone just appreciates your determination and passion to help."

Another one of Martin's fans added: "You were fabulous, as usual, forget it!"
