Martin King's wife Jenny McCarthy tells fans her brain tumour is 'growing back'

The wife of Irish broadcaster Martin King has revealed that she will need to undergo more surgery as a brain scan has revealed her tumour is 'probably growing back.'

Jenny McCarthy - who has been married to the Six O'Clock Show presenter for more than a decade - previously had a tumour removed in 2011 but it appears to have returned.

The mum-of-five announced to her 34,000 followers on Instagram that a recent scan had identified "new activity" - though she said that thankfully the tumour isn't maligant.

She opened up about the situation in several posts yesterday, writing: "Hello everyone. So, I have some news ... not the best news but not the worst news either."

"Some of you may already know that I had a brain tumour removed successfully in 2011 by an incredible person, Professor Ciarán Bolger at Beaumont Hospital," she said.

She continued: "Unfortunately, after a recent brain scan, it seems there is new activity. This means there is some 'swollen tissue' which is probably the tumour growing back."

"Good news is, it's not malignant and Professor Bolger will need to carry out some more brain surgery to remove it."

Jenny said that her doctor has "assured" that she will need to take six weeks off after the surgery but she is then expected to be able to return to doing what she loves.

She commented: "That's documenting weddings, newborn baby and portrait shoots and of course, bringing out more incredible wedding and baby products."

Providing further details, she said: "This surgery will take place in early February." Jenny said that in the meantime her "incredible" colleague Amy will be capturing memories and shooting weddings for her.

She said: "If I were getting married again (to Martin of course) there is nobody I would choose first, other than Amy, she is literally me in every way."

Jenny ended the post by expressing her gratitude for those in her life, including her husband Martin and their children.

She said: "I can't thank you all enough. Thank you for always believing in me and for all of your support along the way."

There was praise for her "incredible team" at work and then, alongside heart emojis, she added: "My Hubby. My Kids."

Concluding the recent post on social media, Jenny wrote: "I've decided to tell you all about this myself, before it gets out and you're reading it second hand.

"I am going to get through this and I’ll be back to the same Jenny you all know in a matter of weeks. Love Jenny."
