Martin Keown silenced Jake Humphrey and BT Sport studio with explanation for being late

Martin Keown silenced Jake Humphrey and the BT Sport studio by explaining he was late to Thursday's show because a person jumped in front of his train.

Keown was 40 minutes late to the studio, where he provided analysis on the Gunners' Europa League clash with Standard Liege, and was teased by BT Sport presenter Humphrey prior to his arrival.

"He has given us an excuse that he is stuck on the train, but he has probably gone Christmas shopping!" Humphrey joked, earlier in the programme.

He added: "There will be one man who will be super stressed and not at work when he should be, that is Martin Keown.

"He is probably watching on the app as we speak, in which case: Martin, come on mate, get yourself to work and we'll get you on the set as soon as you arrive."

Eventually Keown arrived, five minutes before half time, and sat down alongside Owen Hargreaves

Humphrey continued: "Thanks for coming and joining us."

But at that very moment Keown decided he'd had enough of the jokes and explained the tragic reason for him being 40 minutes late to the show.

He said: "Someone jumped in front of a train what was I to do - I didn't want to have to say that."

Taken aback by Keown's response, Humphrey replied: "That is horrible and we feel for them and their family."

Arsenal went two goals behind against Standard Liege at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne in Belgium, and were looking over their shoulder before Alexandre Lacazette and Bukayo Saka came up with goals 10 minutes before the end.

The 2-2 draw saw the Gunners progress from their group to the knockout stages in first place.
