Martin Keown pinpoints the one thing Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta got wrong against Olympiacos

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has hammered Mikel Arteta for his decision to not bring on Gabriel Martinelli earlier during the Europa League loss against Olympiacos.

The Gunners came into the tie on the back of a 1-0 win in Greece but suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Emirates as they were knocked out at the last 32 stage on away goals as it finished 2-2 on aggregate.

Keown criticised Alexandre Lacazette's performance post-match and questioned why he didn't get replaced by Martinelli until the 105th minute of the contest.

Keown told BT Sport: "Lacazette was static and was a passenger. Martinelli came on and did well but why was he not on earlier in the match? We were almost so close to him (Arteta) that I wanted to ask him the question.

"They left it too late and then the sucker punch came. All credit to Olympiacos to do that.

"There are so many disappointments in that Arsenal team. It was an unprofessional performance. It was a hugely disappointing evening for Arsenal."

Arteta was interviewed by BT Sport post-match and added: "They knew that it was going to be difficult. We were getting better as the minutes went by and I think it was cruel. Details are so important and we gave away two set-piece goals. It's a massive disappointment."
