Martin Keown picks out what David Luiz did differently for Arsenal to beat Man United

Martin Keown believes David Luiz was Arsenal's driving force in their victory over Manchester United.

Mikel Arteta collected his first win as Gunners boss at the Emirates after two first half goals from Nicolas Pepe Sokratis Papastathopoulos handed his side a 2-0 win.

The victory lifts Arsenal up to 10th in the Premier League table, four points behind United, who sit in fifth.

The opening 45 minutes was arguably the best Gunners have played this season, and when selecting his man of the match on BT Sport, Keown felt that although there had been a number of standout performers, only Luiz was deserving of the gong.

What to expect from Arsenal in the January transfer window

“Well I'm going to go for David Luiz and I never thought I'd hear myself say it,” the former Gunners centre-back said.

“He's got the crowd going and he's got his players going.

“I think he is as surprised as me. I've been quite a critic but tonight he has played like a man out there on the pitch.

“He's won everything and passed it brilliantly. A real driving force for Arsenal tonight.”

Arsenal take on Leeds United in the FA Cup on Monday night, before returning to Premier League action against Crystal Palace a week on Saturday at Selhurst Park.
