Martin Keown names key moment during Arsenal vs Benfica and it had nothing to do with Aubameyang

Martin Keown has revealed the key moment in Arsenal's 3-2 Europa League victory over Benfica.

Speaking after the win at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in his role as a studio pundit on BT Sport the former Gunners defender found a less-heralded moment to celebrate.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka had won the majority of plaudits for their combined efforts, both for the opening goal as well as the late winner.

The pair had linked up well throughout the game, shown by Aubameyang's two goals both coming from Saka's two assists.

Left-back Kieran Tierney picked up the other goal for Arsenal on a tense night for fans that saw Benfica go close to knocking Mikel Arteta's side out of the competition.

However, it was not one of those goals that Keown picked out as the defining moment of the game.

Perhaps expectedly as a former centre-back, it was a moment at the other end of the pitch that caught Keown's eye.

Having already seen one defensive error lead to a goal for the Portuguese side, he was pleased to see Bernd Leno, on his 100th appearance for Arsenal, not compound a second defensive error with an even bigger mistake.

Keown said: "The key moment in the game was probably when Leno didn't get sent off when the player went through [for the second goal], when he had done earlier in the season.

"Thankfully he doesn't dive in and they kick on from there."
