Arsenal legend Martin Keown has singled out the importance of David Luiz's leadership in Mikel Arteta's squad, following the victory over Portsmouth in the FA Cup.
Goals from Sokratis and Eddie Nketiah put Arsenal in the hat for the quarter-finals of the competition but BT Sport named the Brazilian defender as their Man of the Match.
Luiz was one of the Arsenal players that was criticised following the Europa League exit at the hands of Olympiacos, which left their European dream in tatters.
However, Keown praised Luiz for his response and identified the impact that he can have in the development of the younger players in the squad.
"He is the leader, he's the most decorated player in the team. The trophies that he's won, primarily at Chelsea," he told BT Sport.
"He's passing it on, you've got to develop these youngsters and become a part of the club, you live and breathe the club.
"David Luiz will be hurt from the other night, I thought he was responsible from set-pieces, it's never one persons fault completely but perhaps he could have done better - but he's come out and done very well tonight."
