Martin Kemp volunteers for I'm A Celeb 2020 after watching Roman in the jungle

Martin Kemp has revealed he's considering doing I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here after watching his son Roman in the jungle this year.

The Spandau Ballet singer, 58, explained that he'd always ruled it out but had changed his mind when he saw the DJ having "so much fun".

Appearing on Good Morning Britain with his wife Shirlie, 57, Martin said: "Up until now I've said I wouldn't do it but seeing him have so much fun I think I would.

"I think it's one of the most iconic shows on television."

Shirlie said she wanted Martin to do the show next year so she can enjoy the benefits.

She added: "I'd like to stay in the hotel while he does it. I think Martin should definitely do it next year."

But the couple admitted they found it very difficult to watch their son, 26, do the show.

Matin explained: "It was the most anxious TV I've ever seen in my life. I looked over at Shirlie one time and her fists were like white knuckles."

Shirlie said: "The good side to it as a mum is I knew where he was.

"He was safe, he was being looked after so I liked that part of it."

"I thought I was gonna have to take her to A&E," Martin joked.

Roman reached the final of I'm A Celebrity, eventually finishing third behind  Coronation Street  star Andy Whyment and winner Jacqueline Jossa.

This has brought him a new army of fans with his social media following trebling from 213,000 to over 766,000 as viewers embraced his personality.

After taking just a few days to luxuriate in the surrounds of the Palazzo Versace hotel after three gruelling weeks in the Australian jungle, Roman is reportedly jetting back to London so that he can take up the reins of his radio show on Thursday, December 12.
