Martin Roberts from Homes Under the Hammer was admitted to A&E over the weekend with a potentially serious infection.

The 58-year-old property expert from Warrington was meant to be enjoying the first night of a camping trip before he realised he needed urgent medical attention .

The TV host said his cellulitis had flared up again and spread to his other leg - but said he was declined prescribed antibiotics at his pharmacy due to a system error.

This forced him to seek care at Poole Hospital - where he tweeted an image of his infected leg.

The former I'm a Celebrity contestant tweeted updates from his hospital bed throughout the evening and said he had been in "massive amounts of pain" but his followers' messages of support had cheered him up.

One of the messages he received was from co-host Lucy Alexander who reached out to Martin to say: "Hope you are ok Matey. xx"

Martin received antibiotics via an IV drip before he was discharged after six hours - and then shared a final video of his 4am trip to McDonald's.

Cellulitis is an infection caused by bacteria getting into the deeper layers of the skin.

The main sign of cellulitis is a red, painful, swollen area of skin and the Homes Under the Hammer host urged people to "get help ASAP" if they experience similar symptoms to his.

Cellulitis is usually treated with antibiotics but can be serious if it's not treated quickly.
