Martin Dubravka reveals he is 'very close' to signing new deal with Newcastle United

Martin Dubravka is keen to sign a new deal with Newcastle United.

The former Sparta Prague stopper has been in talks with the black and whites after being linked with Paris St-Germain and Juverntus in the summer.

But Dubravka, whose existing deal does not run out until 2022, is ready to sign up to improved terms.

He said: "I’m happy here.

"Since I came here, people have treated me really well. I can say that I feel at home here.

"I’m glad that people think that I can stay here for the longer-term.

"It’s such a big honour for me.

"Hopefully, we can keep our players in the squad, our leaders, and we can build on this.

"We’re in talks. I’m close. That’s what I can say."

Steve Bruce is also in talks with a host of other senior players on new deals.

Dubravka said: "It’s important.

"He wants to create a good group of people, a team. You can’t change five or six players, and expect that it will work.

"If I can stay longer here, I will be happy."
