Martin Dubravka race against time for Spurs after he misses another Slovakia game due to illness

Martin Dubravka missed another game for Slovakia with a stomach complaint - raising questions about his fitness ahead of a crunch clash for Newcastle on Sunday.

Dubravka was ruled out of Slovakia's draw against Malta and also missed their victory over Russia last night, with manager Stefan Tarkovic revealing on Monday he had not improved sufficiently to play.

Slovak sources suggested he was still hopeful of being healthy enough to feature for United against Spurs over the weekend but Newcastle will monitor his situation as they prepare to welcome all of their internationals back at the end of the week.

"Before this match, we lost other players, namely Dúbravka, Valjent and Hancko for health problems," coach Tarkovic revealed after the match.

Newcastle will hope to have all of their big players back for the Tottenham game, which comes two weeks after an insipid defeat to Brighton which has created an uncomfortable international fortnight for the club.

But with Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson's returns imminent, they will hope their strongest XI can get the wins needed to secure survival.

United have Karl Darlow, who has proved a very able deputy, standing by in case Dubravka does not make it.
