Martin Compston shares 'intimidating' Sean Connery meeting during Michelin star meal

Greenock's Martin Compston has shared a funny wee story about a time he met Sir Sean Connery.

The two actors attended an event in Edinburgh when the late Mr Connery made the night slightly, and hilariously, awkward for Compston and one poor Chef.

During the latest episode of Martin Compston and Gordon Smart's podcast, Restless Natives, released on February 8, the Line of Duty star reflected on an evening he spent in the late James Bond actor's company. Compston insisted that the star had a special "presence about him" before going on to talk about a dinner they had together.

Speaking on his Restless Natives podcast, he said: "I was at a dinner once with him at Edinburgh Castle and it was one of them ones where the Chef comes out and describes the meal, and Sean is standing at the front.

"This poor lad is going 'This is a big honour from me in terms of where I've started'' and you just hear him [Sean] go 'Ah for f*** just get on with the f****** story son and serve the food' as the podcast hosts and guests laughed about the funny but 'intimidating' moment."

Compston continued that he could see "this poor five star Michelin chef in front of you just crumbling whilst he's going through a menu with Sean rolling his eyes at you. He's an intimidating big guy."

It comes shortly after Martin revealed he was left to wander the streets of Glasgow in the dead of night after a hotel messed up his booking and told him they didn't have a room.

The 38-year-old said he was "humbled" when he learned he had nowhere to sleep after getting off a late night flight. But before he was told there was no room, staff asked him for a selfie.

He added: "In some ways I respected the cheek of asking me for the pictures before telling me I didn't have a room.

"I was very humbled that night."
