Martin Compston's 'Scottish Fling' as he travels to Isle of Harris with pals

Filming for the new Martin Compston BBC travel show is well underway as he has posted some snaps in the Isle of Harris.

Compston has teamed up with pal Phil MacHugh to explore their native country in six-part travel series, Scottish Fling.

The duo hope to find out “what makes modern Scotland tick” and how the nation is being shaped by its people and landscape.

Their travels take them from the wild highlands to the bustling cities and places off the beaten track.

And as the pals hit the road, the Line of Duty actor has shared some snaps as they take on their new adventure starting in the Isle of Harris.

The 37-year-old posted a picture on his Instagram story, captioned: "Scottish Fling".

The boys even stopped in at Harris FC where the actor posed with a club scarf.

The club tweeted the picture and wrote: "Visiting Harris this week was ex-@Morton_FC player @martin_compston who, having been bowled over by the island, told us Harris FC was the only other team he would like to play for! Top lad – enjoy your travels back in the homeland. #isleofharris #scottishfling #lineofduty."

Speaking previously about the show, Martin said he was excited to travel his country.

He said: "I've travelled all over the country for work and leisure - but this is the first time I'll be meeting real modern Scots on camera, sharing their thoughts and passions.

"We're excited to get stuck in, and to experience the best that Scotland has to offer in the 21st century."

Phil MacHugh added: “Scotland has so much to offer the world and as a modern Scot, I am so excited to be joining my mate Martin to showcase the best of our culture, our language and our spirit in this brand new series.

“It's going to be lots of fun and full of surprises.”

Martin, 37, isn't the only Scotsman to create a travel series showcasing the country - Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish teamed up to create Men in Kilts for Starz.

Graham, 61, grew up in Glasgow and Sam, 41, grew up in Dumfries and the first season of the show saw the pair explore their native Scotland.

Their show has been so successful, it was nominated across four categories in the American Reality TV Awards.
