Martin Compston reveals what his first big purchase was after he 'made it'

Martin Compston says getting a home swimming pool was his dream buy – but it keeps going on the blink.

The actor has an outdoor pool at the house in Las Vegas where he lives with American wife Tianna.

The star of Line of Duty and The Nest said the swimming pool was the “best and worst” thing he had bought with his earnings.

Compston, 35, originally from Greenock, said he insisted on buying a house with a pool because it was a symbol of his success.

However, things keep going wrong with it and he described the maintenance as a “pain in the a**e”.

He said: “I always had it in my head that I wanted a swimming pool when I was older.

“So when we got to Vegas I wanted a swimming pool. That was my one thing. It feels like a visual confirmation of where I wanted to be, where I wanted to get to.

“But it’s also the worst at times because I’m useless with DIY and every time I touch a pipe something seems to go wrong with it.

“The upkeep is a massive pain in the a**e. So probably the swimming pool was my best and worst purchase.”

Martin was speaking during an Instagram live chat to raise funds for Ardgowan Hospice in Greenock, of which he is patron.
