Martin Compston reveals 'shocking' diet and admits he couldn't even crack an egg until TV stardom

Line of Duty star Martin Compston has admitted having such a poor diet that he was two seasons into the hit BBC drama before he even knew how to crack an egg.

The 35-year-old who played DS Steve Arnott in the police show may have earned his acting chops over the years, but admitted he has not put the same work into his eating habits and cooking skills.

The Greenock-born actor has let slip that his diet is “shocking” and revealed the closest he got to cracking an egg before the age of 30 was throwing one in his younger years.

The Celtic fan, whose films include Mary Queen of Scots and The Wee Man, said: “I’d never felt the need to crack an egg before.

“I threw a couple when I was younger but I never cracked one.”

However, he says his wife – American actress Tianna Chanel Flynn, 29, is an “incredible cook”.

The pair married in 2016 after meeting in a hotel in Los Angeles where Tianna was working – they now have a home in the city, with their pet dog King.

The were wed in Martin’s Renfrewshire home town and announced in July that they are expecting their first child.
