Martin Compston 'hits back at troll' after it emerges Queen is Line of Duty fan

Line Of Duty star Martin Compston was happy to share the news that The Queen is a Line of Duty fan.

He shared a news story about the monarch's reported preference in response to another tweet, from someone it appears had been trolling him.

The content of the original tweet has been deleted, but Martin's response reads: "Seems the Queen you mention there Phil is a fan of this wee fe***n b*****d, you must be raging eh?"

Martin and his co-star Vicky McLure got the royal seal of approval from her Majesty over the weekend when she revealed she watched the show during lockdown.

And according to staff in the royal circle The Queen watched the hit show following the death of Prince Phillip and the aftermath of Harry and Meghan's now famed Oprah interview.

A royal source claimed The Queen watched the show as she isolated at Windsor Castle and is said to have discussed the various plot twists of the programme with her closest staff.

After following AC-12 and the plot regarding bent coppers The Queen is said to have discussed the outcome with master of the household Vice-Admiral Sir Tony Johnstone-Burt, according to The Sunday Times.

A royal source told the paper: "The Queen was very into Line of Duty and enjoyed discussing the plotlines with Tony."
