Martin Compston fans fume as ITV 'goes down' during Our House first episode

Several ITV viewers were hit with empty screens during the first episode of drama Our House, starring Martin Compston, on Monday evening.

ITV viewers took to Twitter to complain that the broadcast went off-air during the first episode of the new thriller, which sees the Line of Duty actor play family man Bram Lawson.

The drama, which also stars Downton Abbey’s Tuppence Middleton, kicked off on Monday night at 9pm, but moments into the broadcast, numerous viewers complained that they were missing the action as ITV had “gone down”.

One wrote: “Somehow my ITV went down for five minutes in Our House so trying to work out what I’ve missed!”

Another fan tweeted: “Martin Compston says he doesn’t know what has happened… Well neither do we as the ITV signal disappeared!!”

“Missed the last 20 mins of it though as there was no broadcast!” a fellow viewer complained.

Another chimed: “Bet everyone will be watching Our House on +1 now to see what happened when ITV went down. Of course it’s on a night new drama starts on ITV and football on ITV4.”

Another viewer who was tuning into the sports wrote: “Anyone else’s ITV 4 just gone down? Want to watch football!”

One Martin Compston fan provided a synopsis of the drama fellow fans had missed during the opening minutes, writing: “For those whose ITV went down Our House went 50 Sheds Of Gray,” referring to the main couple, played by Martin and Tuppence, sharing a steamy night.

The four-part drama sees Martin and Tuppence play husband and wife Bram and Fiona Lawson as the latter arrives home to find strangers moving into her family home.

Fiona’s character is stunned to see all of her family possessions have vanished and her beloved husband Brad is also nowhere to be seen.

Martin previously joked that the height difference was the only issue while working with Rupert (ITV)

An ITV statement said of the series: “With her life shattered, she realises the secrets and lies have only just begun.

“Intertwining the present day with flashback scenes of Fiona and Bram's life together, their separation and their new relationships with Toby and Wendy, Our House gradually unravels unexpected secrets and shocking revelations, culminating in a nail-biting finale.”

This comes as Scottish actor Martin said he's fed up of playing roles alongside stars who are much taller than him, as he measures 5ft 8in but stars alongside the towering Spooks actor Rupert Penry Jones.

Martin previously joked that the height difference was the only issue while working with Rupert, saying: “My only problem is that he is so tall.

“It seems that any actor playing a character I have a grievance with and have to fight on set is always over six feet two.”
