Martin Compston amazed at Scots schoolboy's incredible Line of Duty Halloween outfit

Line of Duty superfan Mary Brogan impressed none other than Martin Compston with her son's fantastic Halloween outfit.

Mary Brogan, 49, from Airdrie was desperate to showcase eight year old Arran's impressive take on Compston 's iconic TV character Steve Arnott.

The youngster caught the eye of the actor who saw the photos on social media, replying: "Love it wee man. Trick, treat or Reg 15."

The official Line Of Duty Twitter account also replied to Mary's original post, adding: "Love this! <3"

Alongside all the online appreciation of Arran's fantastic get up, his school were also seriously impressed and he received the 'Shining Star' award.

Other fans of the show were quick to comment on his terrific costume.

One user replied: "Brilliant Mary - hope AC-12 sees this."

Another wrote: "Best outfit I’ve seen this year, absolutely class."

A third said: "Quite possibly the best Halloween costume ever!! Love it."

Mary didn't expect the tweet to blow up in such a nice way, she said: "I am overwhelmed with the pure love on both mine and Martin's tweets. Absolutely beautiful."

She added: "I always try to think outside the box for Arran and Halloween. My love for Line of Duty made this easy."

After noticing all the attention the tweet was getting, Mary pledged: "Oh my goodness. This tweet has been amazing. Thank you all for your beautiful words. It's sitting just shy of 1000 likes. Whomever takes it to 1000, I'll PM you and donate to a charity of your choice."
