Martin commits to Tigers, signing new seven-year contract

Dustin Martin has ended the speculation over his future by signing a whopping new seven-year contract with Richmond.

The deal will keep him at the club until 2024, effectively making him a Tiger for life.

"I've decided to stay at Tigerland for another seven years, which I'm incredibly grateful for," Martin said on the Nine Network's The Footy Show.

"It's a massive relief. I'm sick of people talking about it. I don't like being the centre of attention so people can go and find something else to talk about now."

Many clubs had chased Martin's signature throughout 2017 with the star midfielder out of contract at the end of this season, most notably North Melbourne who was rumoured to have offered a more lucrative deal than Richmond.

But Martin chose to stick with the Tigers, and remain a one-club player through the best years of his career.

With Patrick Dangerfield ineligible through suspension, Martin is the clear favourite to take home the Brownlow medal after a career-best year.

He was also named in the All Australian team on Wednesday night.
