Martin Clunes opens up about the challenge of playing Huw Edwards

• A new feature-length drama, Power: The Downfall Of Huw Edwards, will explore the disgraced broadcaster's double life and subsequent exit from public life.
• Martin Clunes is set to portray Huw Edwards, a former prominent BBC newsreader whose career unravelled in July 2023 after a national newspaper reported that "a top BBC star" had paid a teenager for sexual images.
• Edwards resigned from the BBC in April and was charged in June 2024, receiving a six-month suspended jail term in September 2024 after pleading guilty to making indecent images of children.
• Clunes explained his motivation for taking on the sensitive role was to highlight the story of “Ryan” and his family, whose lives were significantly impacted by the events.
• Power: The Downfall Of Huw Edwards is scheduled to air on Channel 5 on Tuesday, March 24, at 9pm.
