Racing 92 have suspended Martin Castrogiovanni as part of an investigation into photographs showing the prop partying with members of the Paris Saint-Germain squad in Las Vegas at the weekend and after he told the club he could not play in Sunday’s Champions Cup semi-final against over Leicester.
Castrogiovanni made himself unavailable for the contest due to a need to attend a family matter in Argentina. But images have emerged which appear to show the 34-year-old topless and having fun alongside the likes of the PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“Following the publication in the media of photographs showing Martin Castrogiovanni with Paris Saint-Germain footballers this weekend at a hotel in Las Vegas, while the entire Racing squad was in Nottingham to contest a semi-final, Racing 92 have decided to suspend the player as a precautionary measure prior to launching legal proceedings,” read a statement on the club’s website.
Racing beat Leicester 19-16 and will face Saracens in the Champions Cup final, which takes place in Lyon on 14 May.
