Martin Boyle sets Hibs demands as he targets extended European run

Hibs star Martin Boyle insists the club has to reach the group stage of the Europa Conference League after the hard work they put in last season.

The winger is determined to reach the groups and reckons it would be disappointing if they were to crash out early after the effort it took to get to this stage.

The Easter Road side take on Santa Coloma on Thursday night in their first European tie and they're determined to get the job done against the Andorran outfit.

Hibs are heavy favourites for the game but Boyle insists they must take it game by game and not believe the hype that they should be beating Santa Coloma easily.

He said: “We are trying to qualify for the group stage of European football. We put in the hard work last season, we need to continue that.

“That is the main goal at the end of the day. We will take it game by game and take it as seriously as we can. We are not here for a jolly up and we know the rewards at the end of the day and that’s qualifying for the group stages.

“We want an extended run after all of the hard work from last season to gain access to it.

We don’t want to be knocked out at the first possible point. We need to be well prepared and the manager has done that.

“We’ve put in a lot of work and there is still one more day to go and we will make sure we are fully prepared for what they bring on Thursday night.

“We can’t go in there against Santa Coloma thinking we will dominate the ball, we don’t know much about them but we will go through the analysis.

“We will see what they are like and what they will bring.

“With the fans on our side, hopefully we can play our normal game, take the game to them and get a positive result to take to Andorra."
