Martin Boyle's World Cup dream is ON as scan allays Hibs star's Qatar injury fears

Martin Boyle breathed a huge sigh of relief after being a massive boost with scan results confirming the Hibs star's World Cup dream is ON.

The 29-year-old – capped 19 times for the Socceroos – was forced off during Saturday’s 3-0 win over St Mirren at Easter Road which left his World Cup hopes hanging in the balance. Hibees boss Lee Johnson revealed Boyle had been sent to a specialist in Manchester for further examination and the results confirmed he WILL be available for selection by boss Graham Arnold.

It’s a huge relief for Aberdeen-born Boyle, who qualifies for Australia through his dad who was born in Sydney, as he has become a key man for Australia. The Socceroos have been drawn in Group D alongside defending champions France – who they open the tournament against on November 22 – Tunisia and Denmark.

Boyle has been told he will need to pay through the pain barrier but that will come as a welcome boost to Australia boss Graham Arnold, as he prepares to name his squad.
