Martin Boyle livid claim laughed at as Hibs winger holds talks with Easter Road chief over future

Martin Boyle has held face-to-face talks with Hibs chief executive Ben Kensell to clarify his future after an eye-watering offer from Al-Faisaly was booted out by the Easter Road club.

But Record Sport understands the club’s top scorer has not put in a transfer request and is focused on returning to action against Celtic on Monday.

A report claimed Boyle was livid about seeing a potential move to Saudi Arabia collapse but this has been dismissed by sources close to the player.

The Saudi side made a seven-figure move for the 28-year-old which would have seen his salary rocket towards a life-changing £1.5m a year in the Gulf.

But Hibs – who value the winger at more than £3million – booted the bid into touch and it now looks likely the player will remain in Leith beyond the January transfer window.

Boyle signed a new deal until 2024 last summer and sought out Kensell yesterday to find out the state of play amid mounting speculation.

The player had been keen to talk to the cash-rich Saudi club but is understood to have respected Hibs chairman Ron Gordon’s decision to reject the offer.

An Easter Road insider says the talks between the Aussie international and the Hibs chief executive were amicable and Boyle is now preparing to face Celtic.

The Hoops were also linked with a move for the former Dundee ace earlier in the window but there’s been no contact from Parkhead.

Clubs across the Gulf as well as China and Qatar are also understood to be monitoring his situation given their closer proximity to his international base with the Socceroos.

But Hibs are unwilling to budge on their valuation of the player who has scored 14 times for club and twice for country this season.
