Martin Boyle in Hibs Edinburgh Derby injury sweat after going off injured in Australia qualifier

Martin Boyle could find himself in a race to be fit for the Edinburgh Derby after the Hibs playmaker picked up an injury whilst playing for Australia.

The 28-year-old won his eighth cap for the Aussies in this evening's World Cup qualifier against China in Qatar and wasted no time in proving just how well he's adjusted to international football by scoring a cracker after 25 minutes.

Australia would go on to win the tie comfortably 3-0 but the night ended on something of a sour note when Boyle was clattered as he attempted to go on one of his trademark mazy runs.

After receiving medical attention on the pitch, Boyle was forced to limp off an appeared to be holding his hamstring.

Boyle now looks doubtful to take part in Australia's next qualifier against Vietnam on Tuesday but Hibees boss Jack Ross will be praying his talisman has recovered in time for the mouthwatering clash against arch rivals Hearts.

The Edinburgh clubs square off in their first meeting of the campaign on Sunday September 12, with both sides tied at the top of the Premiership table on 10 points from their opening four fixtures.
