Martin Boyle goes under the knife as rehabilitation from knee injury begins

Martin Boyle has undergone surgery on the knee injury that has ruled him out for the next few months.

The Hibs winger went under the knife yesterday to tidy up the damage done during the 2-0 Betfred Cup win over Elgin City a week past Friday.

Boyle is set to be out until the New year after injuring the same knee that ended his season prematurely last January while on international duty with Australia.

Manager Paul Heckingbottom had been happy with the transfer business he’d done over the summer, but Boyle’s injury has forced him to return to the transfer market to search of a winger.

It is likely that Rangers’ Gelnn Middleton will arrive on loan to fill the gap left by Boyle’s absence.

The Scotland Under 21 international was at Easter Road last Saturday for their 1-0 opening day win against St Mirren.

He was expected to undergo his medical earlier this week with Heckingbottom hopeful a deal can be done to bring in the former Norwich City youngster.
