Martin Boyle gives Hibs penalty verdict and claims him not getting decisions is now 'normal'

Martin Boyle is convinced he should have been awarded a penalty during Hibs ’ 1-1 draw with Rijeka.

But the Australian international insists there’s no point complaining as him not getting decisions is now ‘normal’.

Jack Ross ’ team will head to Croatia for the second leg of their Europa Conference League third qualifying round tie all square, but will feel they should be ahead after missing good chances at Easter Road.

The wide man hit the deck shortly before the hour with the score at 0-0, when Rijeka captain Hrvoje Smolcic slid in, missed the ball and looked like he made contact with the HIbs number ten.

Spanish ref Juan Martinez Munuera wasn’t interested though.

“I felt like he completely missed the ball and he took me out,” said Boyle. “It’s just normal these days.

“I don’t really see the point in me complaining because I just don’t believe that I’m getting much going my way.

“There were multiple fouls that the ref gave but the one that mattered inside the box that I firmly believe was a penalty. That was a bit disappointing.

“But we showed great character to get back into the game and we could have nicked it at the end with Daniel’s chance but he was unfortunate.”

Boyle was on the score sheet again, popping up with a leveller for Hibs as he continued his red hot scoring from from last season.

He told Hibs TV: “It’s nice to pick up where I left off last season. I had a lot of internationals so I missed a big chunk of pre-season.

“But I feel refreshed, I feel good and can’t wait for the next game.”
