Martin Boyle admits he was flattered by Aberdeen's attempt to sign him but says Hibs is now his home.
The Dons had a £500,000 offer for the winger rejected before he signed a new contract at Easter Road on Wednesday.
Boyle has committed to the Easter Road club for a further three years with a contract extension until 2024.
And he maintains there was never any prospect of departing Edinburgh despite interest from his boyhood club.
The Australia international said: "It's been in the pipeline for months. There's been a deal agreed for me to sign yesterday, so nothing was changing.
"That had happened (the Aberdeen bid) but nothing changed.
"I was heading for ASDA to get my shopping when I got a phone call to say Aberdeen had a rejected bid.
"It's flattering, my hometown club and I supported them at a young age.
"But at the same time, I've been living in Edinburgh for years and this is my home now."
