Martin Boyle back in training for Hibs as recovery from knee injury continues

Hibs’ Martin Boyle was back training today, but fans shouldn’t expect to see him back before the end of the season.

The winger’s campaign was ended while on international duty with Australia at the Asia Cup back in January.

He suffered a knee injury and was forced to fly home before the tournament had begun, with surgery keeping him out of action until next season.

He was out on the grass at East Mains today, but was limited to light running as he steps up his rehab in a bid to be fit for the start of pre-season training this summer.

Despite the encouraging sight of Boyle being back out on the pitch, Paul Heckingbottom played down any suggestion that he might make a return to playing before the summer, saying: “He’ll be back when he’s back. I’d rather have him back raring to go and ready for next season.”

The former Dundee man had become a big player for Hibs under Neil Lennon, having contributed four goals and six assists in the first part of the season before injury.
