Monkey hears Martin Bell's recent comments that reporters should "be wary of the creeping symptoms of correspondentitis" have not gone down well among some staff at the BBC and ITN. In the latest edition of the British Journalism Review, Bell described correspondentitis as "an affliction of the mind that occurs when they have been around for a while, believe that they have unique insights to offer, and file reports that are chiefly about themselves". One journalist pointedly asked Monkey: "Should we be wary of dressing in white suits too?" Monkey has always wondered how much it cost Bell to get his famous white suits cleaned.
