Martin and Roman Kemp's ITV show lands second slot to air twice at weekends

Martin and Roman Kemp are doubling up at weekends after landing a second slot for their ITV show.

The pair's TV series, Martin & Roman's Sunday Best! , previously only aired on Sundays but bosses have now decided to show it on Saturdays too.

It's been renamed Martin and Roman’s Weekend Best and will be playing across both days as the father and son compete in challenges and talk to celebrity guests.

Former Spandau Ballet star Martin said: "Roman and I are ready and raring to go for this new series and can’t wait to wake up with the viewers on Saturday, as well as Sunday mornings.

"We've got brilliant guests lined up and some fantastic new items too."

Capital Breakfast DJ Roman said he loves working with his dad, and having an extra day will mean more Kemp shenanigans.

"I might wind him up (just a bit!) but I love working with my dad," he joked.

"So the fact we get to do the series again – and across the whole weekend – is just brilliant. We've got lots of stuff planned, I can’t wait!"

The new programme is set to begin in April.

Their announcement comes after Martin praised his son for opening up about his mental health in a BBC Three documentary.

The 28-year-old radio presenter said that at his lowest point he considered ending his life by jumping in front of a train.

Roman admitted his mum, Pepsi & Shirlie singer Shirlie Holliman , who saved him that day, and he apologised to her for not sharing his feelings at the time.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly, Martin, 59, said: "Roman knows that the generation he is talking to, his generation, he has an audience, because he talks to them every morning on his radio show.

"I am so proud of him, Lorraine, the way he's put himself up there to say, 'It can happen to anybody.'

"He comes from a loving family, but he found growing up at certain points difficult, the same all kids do, but he had people he could talk to."

Martin and Roman’s Weekend Best comes to ITV on weekend mornings from April.
