Marti Pellow wows fans with a patriotic performance of Wild Mountain Thyme

Donning a bright tartan shirt, Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow put a smile on his fan's faces as he treated them to special performance of Wild Mountain Thyme.

And this wasn't just any performance, Marti explained to his viewers that this song had great significance in his life and reminded him of happy times.

He said: "I was thinking of when I was growing up - New Year and Christmas, most times we would alternate between my gran and grandfather's house and my mum and dad's. Some Christmases we would spend there, but there was always a guaranteed sing song and Wild Mountain Thyme that was a favourite so I'm going to have a wee shot at that, got a wee tartan number on too!"

Marti said the song has stuck with him all these years. He said: "It’s a folk song, originally written by the Scottish poet Robert Tannahill, I hope you like it. Stay safe, love to love, Marti."

And fans loved the hint to his roots. One said: "Thank you Marti, beautiful song, beautiful shirt, which honors your Scotland where I would like to go there in the near future for a little concert and I take the opportunity to visit a few days, it would be perfect."

While another penned: "Oh that was just perfect, being Scottish it was the same song that was heard when family where over on Xmas night no matter whose home you were in & ur Tartan shirt matched it today as it’s raining up here in Scotland so everything Scottish today!"

And one said: "Wow beautiful version of that song. Loved the wee tartan number too."
