Martha Stewart shares her 'most important' gardening secret – it's effective and simple

Gardening can be hard – but no one knows it like Martha Stewart. Luckily, the guru isn't afraid of sharing her secrets, starting with the best soil for success.

This week, Miracle-Gro announced their partnership with the gardening doyenne in a new campaign called 'Gro with Martha.' According to the press release, the collaboration 'aims to shift the perceived complexity of gardening to a simple recipe for success.' In the eyes of both Miracle-Gro and Martha, one of the most important ingredients to create your dream garden idea is the proper soil.

As part of the partnership, Miracle-Gro is launching an 'Ask Martha' newsletter, bringing her gardening hacks out into the open. Though we can't wait to read more, it's exciting that one of the biggest tips is out in the open already.

In the press release for the Gro Like Martha campaign, Stewart states: 'People always want to know my gardening secrets.' She continues, 'The most important tip is to choose the right dirt. Not all dirt is created equal. You need soil with the right kind of nutrients to grow the biggest, juiciest vegetables each summer.' Whether you're vegetable gardening or planting flowers, the right soil can make a huge difference.

In Stewart's opinion, the best option is Miracle-Gro's latest Organic Raised Bed & Garden Soil. Described as 'the latest advancement in organic gardening' it is formulated with a quick-release natural fertilizer, is peat-free, and made with upcycled green waste. Even more interesting, it is locally crafted within 150 miles of stores where it is sold, adding an additional eco-friendly level. Its formulation means that it is perfect for raised bed gardening. And we can't say we're surprised that Stewart loves its versatility.

Martha says: 'Miracle-Gro is at the forefront of innovation in that [soil] regard, so I'm excited to partner with them to get more people outside and in the garden this summer armed with the right ingredients.' Clearly, Miracle-Gro believes in their product to the same extent. The brand guarantees that more vegetables will grow in this soil than unfed soil or consumers are guaranteed their money back.

Whether we choose to shop Miracle-Gro or a different soil type, a focus on choosing the proper nourishment for our plants can go a long way. Promoting soil health in your garden can help them to grow stronger and more healthy. If it works for Martha, it's good enough for us.
