Martha Stewart’s Traditional Front Porch Christmas Decor Is Simple Yet So Effective – Instantly Transform Your Home With These Seasonal Buys

Martha Stewart.

Even though Martha Stewart’s iconic front porch Christmas from many years back isn’t new, it remains as inspiring as ever in 2025 – and I still turn to it as a benchmark for festive exterior decor. Her approach proves that the front porch is not just an entryway but a stage for seasonal magic.

This year, Christmas foliage ideas and Christmas wreaths are bigger, shapelier, and more luxurious than ever, drawing on the rustic charm of natural foliage. Whether draped above a fireplace, framing a mirror, hung in a window, lined up a staircase, or used to frame the front door like Martha, they add instant holiday spirit.

Christmas porch decor is often overlooked, but a well-styled entryway sets the tone for the rest of the home. Layering a statement garland with a coordinating wreath can elevate your Christmas decorating ideas, creating a cohesive, welcoming look. I personally love how easy it is to transform a space with just a few thoughtfully placed pieces – nothing beats the instant impact of a lush, verdant garland.

From traditional Christmas garlands to modern faux alternatives, there’s something for every aesthetic. ‘I love the abundance of evergreen garlands at this time of year,’ says renowned florist Phillipa Craddock. ‘They are hardy during the winter (as it is outside of their growing season) and will last for several days, both indoors and out.’ For a richer, more textured look, I like to mix in pine cones, rose hips, holly, and other foraged foliage.

‘Fresh foliage is always my first choice for a garland because of the natural scent and texture they will bring to your home’s exterior and interiors,’ adds Lucy Searle, Content Director at Homes & Gardens. ‘However, if you don’t fancy making a Christmas garland yourself, faux will do just as well. There are so many fantastic faux options – Walmart's Holiday Shop and Crate & Barrel always have great selections. I like to enhance mine with a few fresh blooms, which can be easily swapped out as they fade.’

This festive season, take inspiration from Martha Stewart’s timeless porch design and create a show-stopping entryway that blends natural texture, vibrant greenery, and a touch of sparkle – a look that feels as relevant today as it did when it first appeared.
