Martha Stewart Reveals What Snoop Dogg Is Really Like When The Cameras Stop Rolling

What comes to mind when you hear the name Martha Stewart?

If you’re a foodie, you’ll probably think of her cooking skills, with a wealth of recipes designed to cater to even the pickiest eater.

If you’re chronically online (like me), you’ll likely be thinking of Snoop Dogg. The pair famously met in 2008 when Snoop appeared on Martha’s show (aptly titled The Martha Stewart Show), but it was the infamous roast of Justin Bieber in 2015 that cemented their friendship as a pop culture legend. (Martha later revealed she got a contact high from sitting next to Snoop, which is a bonding experience if you ask me.)

The point is: Martha Stewart is fascinating. She’s the perfect homemaker turned Snoop BFF, who famously joked at the Bieber roast that with all the rappers on stage, she’d “done the most jail time”. Last year’s Netflix doco only cemented her status in the pop culture zeitgeist.

So when the chance came to interview the icon herself, we jumped. Keen to know what the world’s savviest business woman has to say about your career? Read on, mates.

Keep it fun and funky

When asked for advice on what young people should do when trying to navigate their own future, Martha didn’t hesitate. Fun’s at the forefront.

“I like to have a good time. I’m finally getting known for having a great sense of humour. People thought I was just a straight-laced middle-class lady, but now they’re discovering that I actually have a sense of humour, and I like to laugh. Who would’ve thunk it?” Martha tells PEDESTRIAN.TV.

Most importantly, though, make sure you know your stuff. This is true for whatever you’re deciding to pursue.

“Learn everything you can about the subject at hand. Ask yourself: do people need it? Do people want it? Will it be a necessary part of living?” Martha says.

“All of these questions have to be answered before you spend your time doing it. That’s what’s worked for me, and it’s always fun. Most [of the things] I’ve tried have been a successful, useful venture.”

Don’t knock it ‘til you try it

Ah, trying new things. Is it cliché? Incredibly so. Is it true? Yes ma’am.

When it comes to herself, Martha is no stranger to an outlandish business endeavour or two.

“I have the Martha Stewart brand, which is housewares, bedding, bath, holiday products, the works,” says Martha.

“Outside of that, I love to try new things. Scent is one of them. [I’ve also been] dying to design a car. I would love to design a useful family car. I haven’t started yet, but I have so many ideas about it.”

You heard it here first, folks. Martha Stewart is keen to design a car.

“I do have to live in a car, basically. I commute a lot, and I have to sit in a car [often]. So I want it to be the best car possible,” says Martha.

She might have made a name for herself as the so-called perfect homemaker, but she leans into the absurd, the bold, and the downright internet brain rot.

Take her collab with Rexona (yes, the deodorant brand) for example, which involved shooting an ad campaign designed to make your highest friend go “huh”?

“When I was 15, I did a commercial in New York for a full body deodorant soap, and I thought it was such a silly, funny coincidence to do the same so many years later,” says Martha of the unexpected collab, which from her POV, lined up perfectly.

“I was also interested to know what the heck a full body deodorant spray was like. So I found out. It’s not sticky, it’s not greasy, it just [kind of] absorbs.”

Gimmie the (Snoop) tea

Mad Stoner Energy and Snoop Dogg go hand in hand, but from a business POV? Dude’s got balls.

The pair have been friends for over 15 years, first meeting to make mashed potatoes together on The Martha Stewart Show. Since then, the pair have hosted comedy and cooking shows together, and indulged in a whole heap of baking.

“He’s tough. You don’t get that from the laidback, marijuana smoking dude that you see, with his head wrapped in a cloth, and sunglasses, and lots of dangly jewellery. But he is a really good businessman,” says Martha.

“We’ll get an offer for something, and he’ll say nope. They’ll offer a huge amount, and still, nope. He has a number in his head, and it’s that or nothing. The journey to that number is super enjoyable for him.”

Snoop being real stringent might be surprising, but you know what isn’t? His damn munchies.

“I’m not a big snacker, but Snoop is. Snoop has all of the snacks.”

You heard it here first, folks.
