Martha Stewart becomes Swansea City minority owner

Martha Stewart is now a minority owner of Swansea City

Martha Stewart has become a co-owner of Swansea City.

The 84-year-old businesswoman and TV personality is the latest celebrity to become a minority owner of the Welsh football club - following in the footsteps of her friend Snoop Dogg and Croatian football legend Luka Modric.

Martha attended Swansea's 2-1 home victory against Wrexham in their Championship fixture last Friday (19.12.25) after being invited to the match as a guest of the club.

A statement on behalf of the team's ownership group said: "We are delighted to confirm Martha, who has built a long and successful career as America's leading homemaking and lifestyle expert, has followed Snoop and Luka Modric in becoming a minority owner of our football club.

"We are very excited to welcome Martha on board, and we know experiencing Friday night's game in-person has only increased her own enthusiasm and anticipation for being part of Swansea City."

Swansea's owners have previously explained how they are looking to raise the profile of the club - who play in the second tier of English football - in an attempt to increase revenue and allow them to invest more money into the team under profit and sustainability rules.

Meanwhile, Martha recently commented that her pal Ryan Reynolds - the co-owner of Swansea's recent opponents Wrexham - is "not so funny" away from the screen.

The lifestyle guru said earlier this year: "You want to know something? (Ryan’s) not so funny in real life.

"No, he’s not so funny. He’s very serious… he’s a good actor.

"He can act funny, but he isn’t funny. Maybe he can get to be funny again.

"I’m going to get in trouble. He’s my neighbour."

Martha and Ryan live close to each other in New York and she recalled becoming friendly with the Deadpool star and his wife Blake Lively as soon as they moved to the area.

She told the HuffPost in 2014: "(Blake) moved into my neighbourhood a couple of years ago with Ryan – before they got married they bought a house right around the corner from my house.

"And they started to come over, not to borrow sugar, but just as friends.

"They’re very friendly, very nice people. In a way, kind of shy – not shy on the screen, at all, if you’ve seen any of Blake’s movies – but very shy in person."
