When it comes to chopping and peeling garlic, we all have our preferred methods. Some of us swear by a classic, metal garlic press, while others prefer to mince with a sharp knife to get an exacting cut.
Martha Stewart, however, is partial to a silicone garlic press – and she even got Oprah on board the trend. In a clip resurfaced to the Martha Moments archival Instagram page, Martha can be seen showing off her humble but effective silicone kitchen tool, and the results are fantastic. We're inclined to call this a kitchen essential.
'I thought maybe I'd show you this contraption, have you ever seen this?' she asks Oprah in the video. 'It's just a little rubbery piece of tubing, cut on an angle at both sides, and if you put the unpeeled garlic in it and go like this, out pops a perfectly peeled garlic clove.'
While in the clip, Martha mentions that these handy accessories can typically only be found in gourmet grocery stores, luckily, they are more widely available now. In fact, Amazon has quite the selection just in time for its Prime Day sales – and we have rounded up some of our top picks below.

This set of three silicone tubes is perfect for having a few on hand, with their bright colors making them easy to find in kitchen drawers.

This set comes with a silicone tube in addition to a traditional metal press, as well as a brush for easy cleaning. We love how many colorways are offered for the press.

We are all familiar with meal prepping, but this set makes garlic prepping easy, with a small container that can hold several cloves for the week.
The tube is certainly appealing for several reasons: it's compact, so simple to use (just watch the clip for proof), and extremely reasonably priced at just a few dollars for a single item. There are also tons of color options, so you can go for a neutral like Martha's, or try a bright blue or lime green if you want to add a pop to your kitchen counter.
However, as with any other garlic accessory, frequent cleaning is required to keep them ready for use and hygienic. Consider opting for a kit that also includes a brush, so you can reach inside easily and remove any pesky peels.
