Marston's agrees property deal for new HQ

Black Country pub company Marston's has unveiled plans to relocate its head office.

The Wolverhampton-based company has acquired St John's House in the city centre which will become the new home of 250 staff.

Marston's has had a presence in Wolverhampton since 1834 and is currently headquartered in nearby Brewery Road.

The office plans will consolidate all the company's facilities under one roof which will include training and development for head office employees as well as pub team members.

Work is set in January and take a year to complete.

Head of property Andy Kershaw said: "This is such an exciting announcement for Marston's following the unprecedented changes that the company has been through over the last 12 to 18 months.

"Now, more than ever, the need for an environmentally friendly and sustainable city office space is critical and that is something that we are striving to achieve for St John's House."

Marston's operates an estate of approximately 1,500 pubs in the UK across a range of agreements including managed and leased, employing around 11,000 staff.

It also owns a 40 per cent stake in Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company, a new brewery joint venture formed last year with the UK arm of Danish giant Carlsberg, with staff from this part of the group also to be based in St John's House.
