What’s Going To Happen
A funny thing happened on the way to Florida Atlantic’s season – it got really good.
Playing Ohio State and UCF wasn’t fun, but ever since then, the Owls have rolled at will with a fun offense and great passing game. The difference has been a defense that’s taking away everything lately.
The Owls can’t block anyone, they can’t stop anyone’s passing game, and there’s no running attack to get excited about, but they’re making up for the problems with takeaways, efficient passing, and converting on third down after third down.
Marshall’s offense is struggling and sputtering, but its issue in Boca Raton will be its turnover problem – it’s not coming up with any.
The offense isn’t efficient enough, but unlike FAU, the O line is keeping defenses out of the backfield. The Thundering Herd defensive front will do enough to get behind the line and be annoying, and it’s not going to let the Owl offense get comfortable in a relatively low-scoring battle.
Marshall’s defense isn’t great at getting off the field, and in the end, the turnover margin will make all the difference. At home, FAU will be a +2 to overcome a rough day from the ground game.
