Hamas have one way of dealing with the Snickers recall.
Islamic Hamas authorities have been filmed burning 15 tonnes of chocolate bars in Gaza, following a recall in 55 countries because of fears plastic could have contaminated the bars.
Customers were urged not to eat Mars or Snickers bars with best before dates between June 19, 2016, and January 8, 2017 by notices on national food standards authority websites and with notices at the cash points of retailers.
But Hamas appear to have taken matters into their own hands according to video footage, which shows men hurling boxes of Snickers into a bomb crater, before dousing them in diesel and setting them on fire.
Three children from a nearby Bedouin encampment managed to snatch some of the chocolate bars before they melted away, AP reported.
Tight restrictions have been put in place on imports to the Gaza Strip by the Israeli authorities since Hamas took over the region in 2007. Chocolate is exempt from the restrictions, however, so Gaza should have Snickers back in stock soon.
