Married at First Sight star Jess Potter selling her wedding dress on Facebook

A Married at First Sight star is selling her wedding dress on Facebook for £2.5k - because she wants to move on from the show. Dental hygienist Jess Potter, 31, appeared on the hit reality show last year.

She 'married' Dreamboys dancer Pjay Finch, also 31, but they decided to end their relationship soon after. And Jess, from Cambridgeshire, is now selling her Sophia Tolli dress - because of the memories it brings up.

She has advertised the ‘fit and flare’ style gown for £2,500 - £1,000 less than she bought it for. Jess said: “I paid £3,500 for the dress and, at the end of day, it doesn’t exactly have any good memories. I just feel like the whole wedding and whole show made me feel like I was completely set up for entertainment. Maybe others are keeping their dresses as memories of Married at First Sight. But I didn’t enjoy one second and just want it out of my house.”

Jess featured on the most recent series of the Channel 4 show, which ran from August 29 to October 13, 2022. She was paired with Pjay but sadly the couple found they got on better as friends - rather than as a romantic couple.

They ended up separating and leaving the love experiment – with Jess claiming she received cruel comments from trolls on social media after leaving the show. Now, she says her and Pjay have no communication at all - with Jess going as far as blocking him online.

Jess said: “I paid a lot of money for the dress as I thought I was going into a real wedding. To be honest, it’s just sitting in my house and I want to give my mum the money back.

“They say they’re looking for people who want to get married and settle down – but if that was true, they wouldn’t have given me everything I didn’t ask for. I actually ended up blocking him a week or two weeks after the show was out - but we had really good relationship during the show.

“I’ve had a few people message me about the dress. Facebook is the best place for it to go because everyone’s on social media. I’ve also put it on selling apps as well just to get rid of it.

“Mentioning the show in the advert hasn’t bought it loads of attention, people probably think it’s a cursed dress and want to avoid it. You never know – there might be a fan of Dreamboys and think it’s one step closer to reaching them."

Since leaving the show Jess has met a new man - and says she is hoping for another wedding. She said: "I would go for something completely different for my wedding [dress], something a bit more princess-y. I hope it’s soon, I’ve got my fingers crossed for my boyfriend to propose to me this year, I’m manifesting it.”

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: "Contributor care and well-being is of paramount importance and we work closely with our production partners to ensure robust contributor care protocols are in place and that appropriate support is available to contributors before, during and well after broadcast, including access to an independent psychologist."
