Married At First Sight's Morag blasts ex-husband Luke for 'faking nice guy image'

Married At First Sight UK star Morag has blasted her ex-husband Luke for ‘putting on a nice guy’ persona and not putting in the effort needed to make their marriage work.

The 31-year-old reality star tried her luck at love on the E4 reality series, allowing dating experts to pair her up with who they felt was her perfect match.

However, her romance to Luke, 36, seemed doomed from the start, with Morag saying she ‘didn’t get what she ordered’ after meeting her now husband.

The pair continued to fight to make it work, making it through the experiment and vowing to continue to fight for their relationship in the final vow renewal.

But months later, at the reunion special, Morag said that Luke had cut all contact with her pretty much as soon as the experiment ended.

In some extremely awkward scenes, Morag and Luke fought about who caused the break-up, with Luke saying that while he fancied her, he had never loved her, and accused her of faking her feelings for the sake of the TV show.

But in a new interview, Morag says that is far from the case, and that Luke was ‘physically and emotionally’ distant from her, with only one night of passion to keep their romance afloat.

“It was inevitable that Luke and I were going to break-up but that's not what I wanted,” Morag told MailOnline .

“I wanted it to work, and I was serious when I was doing my final vows. That was our best week ever, we were stronger than ever, and I was genuinely gutted.”

Besides the initial struggle to get a physical attraction going, the pair were also opposed in some major life decisions.

For example, while welshman Luke was desperate to start a family, Morag was open about her intention to never have kids.

But for the sake of the experiment, Morag said she persevered, and even shared a romantic night with Luke as their bond did start to grow.

“I loved it and I thought it was the best night ever; it was so much fun, and I loved it,” she said. “Luke came out of his shell when he had been quite timid around me, and it was just seeing him relax and be confident. I wasn't getting that before.

“It felt like a breakthrough but that was just for that one night. I got to a point where I thought this marriage could work.

“However, it was always me putting in the effort emotionally and physically and I wasn't getting that back.”

Luke and Morag’s relationship wasn’t the only couple who weren’t meant to be. In fact, as it stands, only two couples who were matched in the experiment have lasted out of the eight.

Marilyse and Franky remained together through to the reunion, but split weeks later with Franky moving back to Dubai.

Tayah and Adam have proved to be the show’s biggest success story, with Adam proposing at the final vow renewal after the couple discussed having kids together.

Daniel and Matt, the series’ first ever gay couple, have also stood the test of time, with the pair figuring out a way to make their relationship work between Leeds and Ireland.
