Married at First Sight Australia: Harrison 'checks on' Alyssa's mental health each week with call

It's the friendship nobody saw coming, as Alyssa Barmonde revealed arch nemesis on the show Harrison Boon checks in with her every so often with a phone call to make sure she is doing well.

The Married at First Sight Australia stars appeared on series 10 of the Channel 4 reality show which has recently wrapped up, having brought a whole heap of drama to the table from cheating scandals to "emotionally abusive" contestants, with fans calling out Harrison being one of them.

There has been a spotlight on single mum Alyssa in recent weeks, who became infamous for her "I have a child" repetitive line on the show after it was announced her ex-husband Duncan has moved on with co-star Evelyn Ellis with the pair confirming their romance.

Alyssa and Duncan had appeared to be a strong couple on the show, but their relationship took a sour turn at the final vows when Duncan decided he had enough of her constant demands.

Meanwhile, Harrison wasn't a popular contestant with anyone over his "gaslighting" behaviour to his wife Bronte Schofield during the show, so it will come as a surprise to fans that one of the brides who disliked him the most is now singing his praises.

But following her exit from MAFS, Alyssa much like Harrison, has faced piles of social media backlash in the aftermath of her appearance due to her portrayal.

Speaking to Heat, Alyssa revealed who she is still in contact with from her time on the show, saying: "Harrison surprisingly rings me every week or so to do a mental health check on me which is very nice."

Alyssa also said she is still in touch with co-stars Josh, Tahnee, Ollie, Janelle, Bronte and Lyndall. Tahnee recently defended the single mum over the levels of hate she has been receiving on social media as she leapt to her defence.

During her appearance on Al Perkins and Taku Chimwaza’s Back To Reality podcast, Tahnee said it has been “sad” to see the reaction to Alyssa from viewers on social media who have been thrashing her with hate since she left the experiment.

She said: "[I’m] not surprised, but I think I was sad to see the reaction to Alyssa.

"I think Alyssa is so beautiful and she is just such a nice woman. I think it’s sad to see the hate she’s coping that really upsets me. I think she obviously wasn’t shown in the best light, but I think that’s been the saddest to see."

Married At First Sight Australia is now available to watch on catchup on E4/Channel 4.
