Married at First Sight Australia fans slam Alyssa over 'hypocritical' remarks amid cheating scandal

Married at First Sight Australia was back on screens for an explosive dinner party on Thursday night as the two new couples joined the experiment in a bid to find love.

But they couldn't have entered at a more turbulent time, as Claire and Adam's cheating scandal was the talk of the table it was almost easy to forget the newlyweds.

Adam Seed was under fire as he seemed to take no accountability for his part in the recent cheating scandal, passing it off as nothing more than a "drunken kiss" as he continued to plead his case whilst Claire fell on her sword profusely apologising for her infidelity.

The Kindergarten teacher, 31, and aspiring businessman Adam, 35, even went as far as to say Claire's husband Jesse had been acting "paranoid" and "embarrassing" as they rubbished his claims and suspicions previously there was anything going on.

Claire previously said: "It's embarrassing you don't own me - I am not your possession."

Adam told him: "You are paranoid mate, you have your own issues to work on what you done was out of order."

But the news shocked the entire group when Claire admitted the pair had in fact shared a kiss on a night out despite previously denying all claims and leaving Jesse feeling like a "crazy, insecure, and jealous" husband who had gotten inside his own head.

Claire had got some moral support from fellow bride Sandy who she confided in before the news broke out, as Sandy told her she had done the right thing in coming forward.

Despite the group rightfully having opinions on the chaos that had unfolded, as both Claire and Adam had been unfaithful and lied to their partners, it was Alyssa's scathing comments which rattled viewers.

The former Mormon previously admitted in earlier episodes of the show to her partner Duncan she had an affair with a married man in her past, so it came as a surprise when she was one of the most vocal out of the group on the cheating scandal.

Having been seen as one of the strongest couples in the experiment so far, it tested the pair's relationship as her fiery attitude saw her clash heads with Duncan.

"To me, its really simple two people done a stupid thing and they both have to wear it tonight," said Duncan as he defended the right to still be friends with Adam despite not agreeing with his morally wrong decision.

Alyssa hit back and said: "I will tell you right now, I am not greeting Claire or Adam - I would be cheating myself if I was fake to them and said hello."

Things got heated in the taxi journey as account executive Alyssa told her husband to "cut it out" and that Duncan was "condoning" their behaviour by associating with them as she told producers he can't be friends with everyone.

It was an uncomfortable entrance for the 31-year-old as she attended the dinner party alone to face her heartbroken husband and the rest of the group who were visibly taking their stands on supporting Adam's wife Janelle who had also been left in tears.

"There's this energy or side that there's a Janelle side and a Claire side. I am supporting the fact she's owning it," said Sandy as she entered the room.

Alyssa completely snubbed Claire and Adam, as she continued to slam Claire for what happened telling new bride Tayla she was "100% going to slam her," at the dinner table as Tayla stuck up for Claire.

"Hey she's not married to you she did the right thing we do not want to slam this girl when she comes in," she said before telling producers she could see it was clear sides were being drawn.

Alyssa added: "Claire is playing the victim, she's just sorry she got caught."

Later on in the programme, we watched as Adam continued to get the brunt of the heat, due to his handling of the situation as he continued to blame his marriage to Janelle not being in a good place when the kiss occurred instead of "owning" it as Claire had done.

Jesse and Claire seemed to meet on civil ground as they shared a 'fist pump' at the table and she praised him for "showing up and carrying himself like a gentleman" despite how hard it would have been to show face.

But the digs from Alyssa kept coming, with Claire apologising to everyone at the table in a speech.

"I think we are glazing over the fact you both lied to us for so long and you gaslight Jesse and made him the crazy one," said Alyssa.

She added: "And the fact Claire, you looked in the eyes of Janelle when she asked you 'do I have anything to worry about?' and you said no, was this ever going to even come out?"

Claire said: "I have no excuses for my behaviour. I am really sorry to Jesse and Janelle for disrespecting them and everyone for disrespecting the experiment.

"I am really sorry to Janelle for lying to your face [as she got tearful] I am sorry I didn't come forward sooner, and Jesse I am sorry I really am, I am really remorseful and really sorry."

Claire and Jesse got a moment alone away from the dinner table where she gave him a handwritten letter which she said to him as a written apology, as she asked him for a hug.

"Some things I spoke in my vows I didn't follow through on and I am sorry for that as well. I have come here as a flawed person as I came here to learn and I have a lot of respect for you," Claire said.

Fans took to Twitter completely shocked at bride Alyssa's "hypocritical" behaviour on Thursday's episode.

One person wrote: "Alyssa is such a hypocrite. She had an affair with a married man. She really can't be this opinionated on cheaters when she was one! A BIG ONE! #MAFSAU #MAFSAUS."

Another added: "Alyssa seems to have a bit of amnesia about the affair she had with a married man whilst judging ………"

A third chimed: "MAFS Alyssa needs to chill a bit seen as tho she was sleeping with a married man for 6 months when she knew they were married? a bit hypocritical."

"Alyssa, love... didn't you have an affair with a married man? #MAFSAU #MAFS"

"Alyssa is totally projecting her anger for when she contributed to an affair. Hypocritical she's soooo angry. angrier than janelle and jesse combined #MAFSAU #MAFS," observed another fan of the show.

Married At First Sight Australia airs Monday - Thursday on E4 at 7:30pm.
