Married at First Sight Australia fans all say the same thing as Melinda sobs during clash with Layton

Married at First Sight Australia couple Melinda Willis and Layton Wills had a heated argument after the latter refused to move back into their marital apartment following the wife swap challenge, which he had previously been furious about and refused to take part in.

Viewers saw Melinda devastated as tech site CEO Layton, wanted a night to decompress after discussing with another bride, Bronte Schofield, his feelings about the situation with his wife. Layton wanted to check in with Bronte, whom he described as a "good sounding board", when talking about how easy it was for Melinda to move in with Harrison Boon – Bronte's husband – for the challenge.

As Melinda became increasingly upset viewers were shouting at their TVs - or rather, writing on Twitter, for Layton to suck it up and give the sobbing beauty website CEO a cwtch.

"Layton, give her a hug FFS," wrote one miffed viewer, while another said: "Layton, just give her a hug... That's all she needs right now."

Another added: "Give Melinda a cuddle, Layton! FFS."

The drama saw Mel prep their apartment for Layton's return by lighting candles. But she was not impressed that her TV spouse wanted another night away. "[It] makes me question the compatibility in our relationship. I have to respect my own boundaries as well," he said, ahead of their confrontation. "I need a night away from Mel. [To] Think about it."

Mel was looking forward to her TV husband coming back and acknowledged that there were things they needed to work on. She was hoping for an apology after his reaction to the challenge initially. A producer off-screen told her he had decided not to come back she said: "This has to be a joke. I'm expecting an apology and for him not to come back... I'm too angry.

"I didn't want to do the task too. Layton only sees what Layton sees and no-one can change that."

The pair were reunited tentatively on screen but are reportedly still together following the ending of the show. For more on who's still together from MAFS Australia 2023 click here. For the latest TV and showbiz news sign up to our newsletter here.
