Married At First Sight Australia dinner party in chaos as groom addresses cheating scandal

Married at First Sight Australia has been drama filled since it landed on E4 and the episode that aired on Thursday, March 30 was no different. Following a cheating scandal that saw Adam and Claire share a secret kiss behind Janelle and Jesse's back, the fallout continued at a dinner party.

After keeping the secret for weeks Claire eventually told Jesse she had cheated on him with Adam and both Janelle and Jesse were left devastated by the revelation. At the first dinner party since the cheating scandal emerged Adam began by apologising but quickly started to make excuses.

He said: "We had a kiss downstairs. It wasn't planned, either way we kissed and that is all I want to say. I can tell you right now there is nobody at this table that has taken this harder than myself."

He added: "I am not sitting here saying we were just in a bad place, it was not a real relationship... I just wanted to get out of the experiment, I did not want to be here... the fact of the matter is me and Janelle have formed a relationship in the last two weeks, I'm owning up to the kiss that happened. Yes, I kissed Claire but I wasn't cheating at the time."

The rest of the brides and grooms were shocked at Adam's apology with fellow groom Harrison asking his wife Bronte, "I don't think anyone has actually heard him own it" and Bronte replied: "I just hear excuses".

Speaking to the cameras, Harrison said: "Just own it and shut up. I genuinely don't think he cares, I think he says he cares but then if you care, if you really cared about Janelle, all he wants to do is throw her under the bus".

The romance experts on Married at First Sight Australia, John Aiken, Mel Schilling and Alessandra Rampolla also believed Adam was not apologising properly. Mel said: "He is coming from this place, whatever he says is right and everyone else at that table is wrong."

John said: "What Adam doesn't realise is that there is a number of betrayals and acts of deception that he has done, outside of just the kiss. The lying to people who asked him directly but not just the lying the coming at them in a incredibly aggressive way to defend himself."

Audiences were also left unimpressed with Adam's excuses. One said: "You've owned nothing Adam #MAFSAU #mafs" and another added: "I’m sorry??? You kissed a girl that wasn’t your wife without telling your wife and then went and had sex with your wife the same night despite telling everybody the relationship wasn’t in a good place #MAFSAU".
