Marouane Fellaini takes dig at select group of Manchester United players

Former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has criticised some of his former team-mates for their use of social media after football matches.

Fellaini was sold by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January, moving to the Chinese Super League Shandong Lungeng, and United have struggled since his departure.

Defeat against Newcastle at the weekend left the Reds just two points above the relegation zone which heaped pressure on Solskjaer to turn things around.

Fellaini believes the club should have handed more time to David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho rather than instill a sacking culture at Old Trafford.

The Belgium international also thinks Solskjaer's reliance on youth players could be a problem.

"You see some players go straight into the dressing room after games and go straight onto social media.” he told The Telegraph .

"It's wrong.

"Now you have a new manager who wanted young players and they will be up and down, up and down; that’s football, that’s what happens with young players.

"Of course you can’t play with just young players, you need a mix. To win games, to win titles, to win big games you need experience. Of course you can win with young players, but not every game."

The former Everton manager soon found himself out of Solskjaer's plans but revealed he has no regrets over departing the club.

He added: "He (Solskjaer) didn’t have a conversation with me if I will play or not. I signed a new contract for two years, one of the best managers in the world wanted me to stay.

"But after that, when a new manager comes and I’m not in his plans, of course it was time for me to leave and I don’t regret it at all."
