Marouane Fellaini 'over the hardest part' as recovery from coronavirus continues

Marouane Fellaini says "the hardest part is behind me" after being discharged from hospital having recovered from coronavirus.

Fellaini, who plays for Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng, tested positive for the virus in March despite not having any visible symptoms and has been in quarantine since.

"The time has come for me to thank from the bottom of my heart the medical staff of the hospital, their nursing staff, as well as my club and its medical staff for taking such good care of me," the Belgian international posted on social media.

"The hardest part is behind me! Let's keep fighting, it's important!"

Fellaini will now self-isolate for two weeks, as he keeps his fitness up with the Chinese Super League season yet to begin.

The CSL has been indefinitely postponed due to the coronavirus, with the original start date of February 22 missed.

Fellaini left Manchester United in January 2019.
