Marouane Fellaini issues update from hospital after coronavirus diagnosis

Marouane Fellaini has provided an update on his coronavirus diagnosis, saying that he is 'getting stronger', in what will be a huge relief to his supporters.

The 32-year-old posted a video from a hospital in China, where he claimed that he is getting back to normal fitness, having been one of the first elite footballers to contract the virus.

The Belgian joined Chinese side Shandong Luneng during the January transfer window last year, but it is there where the killer bug first emerged from.

He captioned the video with: "Thank you everyone for all your messages. I am still in hospital but getting stronger every day."

The clip, which shows Fellaini participating in his own training routine, has been viewed over 60,000 times so far, with many supporters giving the former Premier League star well wishes.

One said: “Happy you’re healthy bro.”

A second commented: "Yesss Felli keep strong - I love u so much."

Another said: "Big up. Courage. Get well soon bro."

It follows from the news last week, when the former Everton and Manchester United player said in a post: "Dear friends, I have been tested for coronavirus and my test result is positive.

"Currently, I am back in China and being treated in the hospital. I can assure you that everything is fine for me now."

Fellaini had spent ten years in the Premier League, regularly playing first-team football for the Toffees and the Red Devils.

He followed David Moyes to Old Trafford in 2013 for a reported £27.5million - but ultimately failed to make a real impression in the north-west, putting in some mixed displays.

At Shandong Luneng, however, the towering player has made a brilliant start.
Indeed, at his new side he has scored 13 times from 34 matches this campaign, despite remaining in his preferred midfield role at the club.
