Marouane Fellaini exit looms: Man Utd in talks with Chinese Super League club

Manchester United are prepared to sell Marouane Fellaini - and are in talks with a Chinese Super League club over the Belgian midfielder.

Fellaini only signed a new two-year contract at Old Trafford last summer - but the sacking of Jose Mourinho has left his future in doubt.

He has hardly figured under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with United ready to cash in on the 31-year-old.

Fellaini is currently sidelined with a calf injury - but that is not expected to stand in the way of any deal.

Mourinho fought hard to land the former Everton player a contract extension last season, with United eventually relenting after being reluctant to hand him a two-year deal.

But he does not fit in with the fluent and attacking brand of football introduced by Solskjaer.

And even if the Norwegian does not get the job on a permanent basis at the end of the season, it is unlikely Fellaini would suit the style of United’s top choice to take over, Mauricio Pochettino.

Fellaini has divided opinion since his £27.5m move from Everton in 2013.

But he also became something of a cult figure among sections of the crowd and was valued by David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Mourinho.

He made 106 appearances for United - scoring 22 goals.

He was also won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League at Old Trafford.

Shandong Luneng are believed to be leading the chase for Fellaini, but there is interest from elsewhere in China.

Although there is an eagerness to get the deal done swiftly, the Chinese transfer window doesn’t close until the end of February.
